eBay has launched the digital magazine www.TheInsideSource.com as part of its over-arching media push to recapture consumer mindshare. The “magazine” opens with a trendy look, focusing on designer trends and the usual pop culture stuff that appeals to that segment of the Consumer Nation.
The launch was reported by Reuters.
The debut edition includes a nice interview [...]

eBay’s new holiday advertising campaign has caught the attention of the Wall Street Journal, Fox Business and bloggers like Auctionbytes and eBay Strategies. It’s no wonder, since eBay hasn’t run a major media campaign in nearly two years. (If you don’t remember, your “windorphins” may have dropped since you last steeple-chased an aged appliance to “shop victoriously.”)
The [...]

The “Best Match” sort continues to evolve with eBay’s SR2 announced changes. In this interview segment, Jim “Griff” Griffith explains how “Impressions” and “Performance” scores are used, what Top-Rated Seller adds, and how item relevance and shipping affect this little-understood search mechanism. (Run length: 05:37) This is the fifth part of an [...]

eBay’s Jim “Griff” Griffith explains the cancellation of the Insurance option for listings, why eBay acted to remove the option, and how Sellers and Buyers should see the change. The marketplace giant eBay continues to step away from its forays into Social Networking, now indicating it will shutter its “eBay Blogs” section on October 31, 2009. The arrival of widely-available, free blog platforms and other social networks like Twitter and Facebook made the cost-cutting decision for eBay a simple one: Let’s save the money – they [...]

In this portion of my conversation with eBay’s Jim “Griff” Griffith, he provides more detail and insight into the qualifications needed for the new Top-Rated Seller program. He also responds to allegations that eBay no longer wants small sellers or is intentionally driving them away from the marketplace. (Run length: 05:06) This [...]

It is true that international sales do suffer more from lower DSRs. In the new program that’s coming up, called “Top-Rated Seller,” we’re just not going to count International DSRs for shipping. [Sellers] no longer have to fear receiving lower DSRS from their International sales…

On July 31, I had a conversation with eBay about its recent “SR2″ announcement. The scheduled changes are sweeping, sometimes dramatic, and can be confusing. (You can see them coming as important dates on the Calendar tab.) There will be new Seller requirements, more Powersellers – and a new “top seller” level, [...]

Here’s a segment fresh off the board from my recent conversation with Jim “Griff” Griffith, Senior Manager of Seller Advocacy at eBay. A Media Seller friend had asked if I couldn’t get Griff’s thoughts on some shipping & DSR challenges faced by these Sellers pinched by Shipping Caps and low DSRs. Griff’s suggestion [...]
